DECEMBER 8th 2008

From the In-Box of our very own Rhonda Baughman, we have the following announcements, to which Rhonda says: "Marisa Tomasic, featured in Sirens of Cinema, Volume 2 Issue 13, is a sight to behold - and force to be reckoned with ... ahhhh, if only all actresses were as professional, as upbeat, and as versatile as the titillating Tomasic ... I can always hope, Dear Micro Reader ... I can always hope."

And now a very special message from the very talented Marisa Tomasic:

Hello!

I hope everyone is gearing up for the holiday season.  Below are some updates I thought may interest you:

1.  This weekend will mark a huge event for Cleveland Independent filmmaking.  The Wimp Whose Women Was a Werewolf and The Greatest Fan Film of All Time, by Bullcrank Productions, will have a dual premiere at the Kent Stage in Kent, OH at 8pm on Saturday December 13th.  These 2 short films will prove that Northeast Ohio can produce quality, creative, and ground-breaking films.  The Bullcrank gang is fantastically talented, and I am sure there are many great things to come in their future.  I co-star in The Wimp Whose Woman Was a Werewolf and hope to see everyone at the premiere.  This event is expected to sell out.  For tickets and more information, please go to http://kentstage.tix.com/Event.asp?Event=168875.  The trailer is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdnjRdYV6os.

The Wimp Whose Woman was a Werewolf

The Kent Stage-- Saturday, December 13 -- 8:00 PM

When the city comes under attack by a mysterious creature on the night of the full moon, the town is thrown into chaos. Jack (the wimp) follows the trail of death and destruction left behind by his girlfriend Cheyenne (the werewolf) and worries what might become of her when she's finally stopped. The town closes all doors and the streets are evacuated by order of the city. "The Wimp Whose Woman Was a Werewolf" is a light-weight horror with just enough sarcasm and dark humor to keep it from being a straight thriller.

Screenplay and direction by Larry Longstreth. Starring "Big" Chuck Schodowski, Marisa Tomasic, and Lloyd Kaufman and others.  A 9-foot werewolf by Chronicles of Narnia makeup artist Paul Molnar.

2.  Sirens of Cinema magazine volume 2 issue 13 did a four page pictorial and interview on me.  Rhonda Baughman authored the article and did a fabulous job covering most of the highlights of my acting career thus far.  For more information or to purchase a copy of your own, please visit http://www.sirensofcinema.com/shopping/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=29.  I promise that you will not be disappointed.

3.  My website is just about complete.  The official launch will be January 2009, but a preview can be had at www.marisatomasic.com.  Please bookmark it for easy reference and please check in for regular updates on all of my projects.

I wish all of you a happy holiday season, and please remember to support independent arts.

Thanks.

Micro-Shock reader Chuck Guarino wrote to us recently asking we give you all the heads up about a marathon he is running for the Children's Cancer Foundation. Here's what Chuck has to say about the event:

My name is Chuck Guarino. I am 19 years old, and live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. June 14th, 2008:

Quench Get's Worldwide Distribution:

Some months back, our very own Isabel Da Morte did a review of the film Quench, we have now received word from Quench creator Zack Parker that it has now been picked up for worldwide distribution. Here's the scoop from Zack's very own blog:

"QUENCH WORLD WIDE DISTRIBUTION!

That's right, folks.

It is the blog that I have been waiting a year and a half to post. I just signed a contract with Vanguard Cinema today to distribute QUENCH Worldwide on DVD. For those not familiar with Vanguard, they specialize in releasing off-beat independent and foreign films, and seem like a very filmmaker-friendly and supportive company to work with.

I have been told by them that we can expect the film to be released sometime between September and November of this year. I am now working on Special Features for the DVD, and will be collaborating with them on the final artwork for the DVD cover. We will also be sending out screeners to critics/reviewers over the next few months in order to hopefully get a few nice quotes to stick on the box as well.

Also, don't forget to tell anyone you know in the Seattle area that QUENCH will be making its Seattle Premiere on Friday, June 13th at 7PM as part of the Seattle True Independent Film Festival.

So there it is, soon QUENCH will finally be available to the public. I will be sure to keep all of you informed as we progress and more info comes my way.

As always, thank you all for your continued support!"

Misreporting/Formal Appology:

We here at Micro-Shock.com strive to provide accurate information on recent goings on, and during our recent update we were provided information regarding SOTA Toys, that was completely inaccurate and was not correct in any way, shape or form.

Suffice to say that as we are a fledgling website run strictly by fans of independent culture we cannot always guarantee that the information we receive can be correct or accurate in any way shape or form. But will make a point to remove information of any false nature once we have been made aware of it.

As such, we are retracting our previous news article regarding SOTA toys, a representative at SOTA toys has contacted us and stated that the information we originally reported was not true. As a gesture of respect towards the folks at SOTA we have removed the information.

As such, we would like to extend our deepest apologies for any potentially false information we may have reported and the potential for any unintentional damage our report may have caused to the representatives at SOTA toys. As our intent was not malicious or to report false information.

We're still new at this and are there are lessons to be learned in all of this, and we hope that the fine folks at SOTA Toys (who release some fine quality merchandise as far as this writer is concerned) can accept our formal apology regarding the mix up.

Thanks,

The Micro-Shock.Com Staff.

November 8th 2007:

We have a few items to report from our good friend Isabella Da Morte over at Endless Dark Productions that has a few items she'd like to share with us:

QUENCH made its "Red Carpet World Premiere" at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival in Los Angeles on Monday, October 1st @ 8pm. The premiere was a great success! Well recieved, with a great crowd turn out. The theatre sat 175 people and approximately 150 people attended this premiere.

Here's where it all went down:

Laemmle's Sunset 5
8000 Sunset Blvd.
West Hollywood, 90046

To learn more about this festival, log on to:
http://www.nyfilmvideo.com
After attending this festival, Zack Parker then made a trip to New York to personally recieve his award for "Best director of a feature film" at the NYIIFVF 2007 film festival awards ceremony held at the China Club  on November 2, 2007.  Way to go Zack! Check out his myspace page to watch his acceptance speech.
Zack has also signed Quench with a film Rep, so this is all a huge step for an indie film maker from a small town in Indiana. things like this don't happen in Richmond Indiana, Zack is a local star! Check out his website here
Isabelle reviewed Quench Here

She also wanted to alert us of a few indie films that she and her family will be acting in as well, Thanks Isabelle for the heads up!

"Don't See It Alone" movie premiere set for March 1st!

The long anticipated date of the premiere of Don't See it Alone is March 1st, 2008 at the Artcraft Theatre in Franklin, Indiana at 6 PM. DON'T SEE IT ALONE is a short horror film by "Frankenstein1931 films" that my husband, and two of our boys were featured in. Filming took place back in July of this year.I had a voice over part in the film as a 911 operator and my bloody hand made an appearance.....oh I'm such a hand model, lol....NOT! haha.So if you are in the area and can make it, come show your support and meet the cast and crew. Hope to see you there!

Coming Soon: "The Box":

The short HORROR film "THE BOX" is a short horror film written by Mike Garcia of Bearline films and was Directed by Don Becker of PolarBear Productions. Starring, me (Isabel) my husband James, our middle son Dakota James, and Jerry Lee Collins.

It is currently in post production. My husband is in the process of editing it. He's over half way done, then it will be sent off for the score to be added. Virgil Franklin of Virgilmusic.net is doing the score for The Box.

The project was fun. Though the editing process is taking us a little longer than it should...due to having to learn the ropes of editing along with many other things we currently have on our plate.  We are hard at work on it and making sure we keep it an interesting piece. Especially considering it's our first real attempt at editing. Ask any film maker and they will tell you editing is the hardest part.
We all had fun doing the film, made a lot of great friends and all was able to chalk the entire project up as a fun learning experience.
I'm sure we would all go back and do it again if we had the chance.

November 1st 2007:

From the cluttered desk of Rachelle Williams:
Alongside Ryli Morgan, Rachelle Williams has been cast in the upcoming 'Highway Hunters' to begin shooting in North Carolina in 2008 (http://www.myspace.com/highwayhunters). Morgan and Williams are reteaming again for the long-awaited sequel to Expendable II: Thirst for Vengeance. Both actresses will reprise their roles from the first film. (http://www.myspace.com/expendable2) Williams has finished both Take-Away Spirit (as demoness Nadine Corda) for One Shot Productions and Very Grim Fairy Tales (as Jill and the 'poetic voiceover') for Dark Wind Woods Productions and is currently in talks with producer Fred Obermiller to begin work on their homage to zombies and  history in Kwazombie. Williams has also wrapped two features for her Happy Cloud Productions family: Splatter Movie: A Director's Cut and A Feast of Flesh (currently from Bloody Earth Films).
