SYNOPSIS I (courtesy of Donna Spangler):
Baron Von Benson and his womanizing buddy, Steve Patise, are unaware their lives are about to change forever. Space Girls in Beverly Hills introduces the wealthy playboy, Baron, and his younger counterpart, Steve, to three vibrant, powerful, and sexy women. In a cunning move, Queen Ziba appoints the three lovely vixens to travel to other galaxies to find men to repopulate their planet of Vanisia. Rayan, Silica, and Katana are women who would make any man on Earth drop to their knees because of their extremely beautiful and mystical ways; however, Earth is not where they intended to land. Because of a spaceship malfunction, the retro space girls are forced to make an emergency crash landing in the backyard of the infamously cheap playboy Baron Von Benson. Hilarity and adventure ensue when Baron and Steve attempt to disguise these three women as normal Beverly Hills women while the gold-digging seductress Elaine and the government try to figure out their true identities. The digitally shot, female driven film includes a special appearance from the famous Q Cat of Cats and Dogs as The Flying Q Cat. Writer/Producer/Actress Donna Spangler and Director Tim Colceri bring this romantic sci-fi comedy to life as a feature length parody of the sci-fi films reminiscent of drive-in theatre madness.
SYNOPSIS II (courtesy of Boonie Entertainment):
In the lush quiet suburban community of Beverly Hills, California lives the wealthy playboy Baron Von Benson who is unaware of the dire circumstances that are ensuing galaxies beyond his recognition. A devastating war has exterminated all males living on the planet Vanisia. Queen Ziba of Vanisia has declared that three women must venture out to other galaxies in order to find suitable males so they may re-populate their planet. In order to send the most worthy women of her planet she holds a competition. Rayan is the resourceful and mentally strong blonde; Silica is the sexy engineering whiz; and Katana is the scientific genius who leads this trio to save their planet. As Baron Von Benson and his buddy, Steve Patise, chase women all around town the three space girls set off for the greatest adventure of their lives. Baron Von Benson has fallen for the illustrious seductress Elaine. While communicating with Elaine over the telephone Baron is distracted by a loud crash. He immediately hangs up on Elaine and rushes to see what the racket was about and notices three silver high-heel boot wearing women with big retro style hair. The space girls have accidentally made an emergency crash landing in Barons backyard. Baron, along with his younger counterpart Steve decides to help the girls keep a low profile while they fix their spaceship in order to continue their mission. However, keeping the girls true identity hidden from the gold digging Elaine and the government proves to be a more challenging task than either thought possible. Along the way romance blooms between the unmistakably cheap Baron and the sweet-natured Katana.
Donna Spangler is the writer, producer, and plays Katana in this romantic sci-fi comedy. Donna along with director Tim Colceri has created a light-hearted, entertaining movie. The multitasking Donna (who also created the episodic soap opera called S.C.A.N.D.A.L.S. where she writes, produces, acts in, and even bulk handles the editing, directing, and lighting) was inspired to write this sci-fi parody based on a personal relationship she endured. Two additional sexy and talented women comprising the cast are played by actresses Britain Taylor and Allie Moss. Britain Taylor is an established actress who has made appearances in the hit television shows Rescue 77, Full House, Deep Space Nine, Baywatch, and Caroline in the City. Allie Moss' well-known resume includes various movies, commercials and television roles including the reoccurring role on S.C.A.N.D.A.L.S. George Thomas, a well-rounded actor plays Steve Patise; Barons best friend and buddy. Jill Noel is the cunning and wildly entertaining Elaine. The Vanisian Queen Ziba is played by statuesque film vet Julie Strain. Making her debut as the Queen Tarina who narrates this hilarious and adventurous space story is Sabrina Parisi. Lastly, but certainly not least to wrap up the cast is the incredibly talent director and actor Tim Colceri. Besides taking on the director's duties he also plays the infamously cheap playboy Baron Von Benson. Tim's natural comedic timing and charming playboy style makes Baron a fun-loving character. Space Girls in Beverly Hills is an entertaining sci-fi romantic comedy that will have you laughing out loud and guys wishing they lived on the planet Vanisia.

RB: The international screening of your film Space Girls in Beverly Hills is coming up. Are you excited?
DS: I am very excited about this film because I put a lot of work into it and worked for a long period of time to get it where it is today. It is my first born feature so to speak! I am presenting it in the Cannes Film Market for foreign sales. It is May 19th at 130 pm in the Palis in Cannes!
RB: Tell me how you were introduced to writer and filmmaker Scott Kenyon Barker?
DS: I have known Scott for years through a mutual friend from Arizona. Your impression? He is a wonderful and talented person and I am glad to know him.
RB: Who/What are some of your influences and idols?
DS: I like Roger Corman, Steven King, Spielberg, and Marilyn Monroe and Aaron Spelling.
RB: What are your pet peeves?
DS: Dishonest people.
RB: What have you worked on previously to SG?
DS: I started as a model for Playboy Models, can you believe? Then I got into commercials and movies. My list of credits in on imdb. I also produced my own web episodes called Scandals - when no one else was doing it. And I have a Film Festival called The Beverly Hills Film TV and New Media Festival.
RB: You are a producer, a script-writer of the movie and you are playing one of the lead roles - the space girl Katana. Wasn’t it a little too hard to star in, produce and script-write a movie?
DS: The script writing was easy because it was already something I had done and enjoyed the creative process so I did not have to worry about it. I finished it way before the production started on the movie. The tricky part was doing the producing and the acting because, as a producer of an independent film, I had to wear more hats! I had to oversee everything from the catering and casting to listening to and solving everyone's concerns. It was very challenging but I got through it and learned a lot. In addition, I learned from my mistakes so that the next time around (which will be my next film, The Other Realm) will be a lot easier. I had fun doing the acting. I have to admit it was all a big challenge, but I am glad I did it and am going to do it again.
RB: What was the one thing that pleased you the most - the playing, the producing or the script-writing?
DS: I did not have one that I enjoyed more, however it was exciting when I finally got to the shooting stage. It is like raising a child -- there are different stages of life and they all have wonderful things that you experience about them during each stage of life including when they are born, when they are young in their toddler stage, and then when they grow up. I can enjoy every stage of life of my film from conception to birth to the presentation and promotion process of the film.
RB: Is it hard to make an independent movie?
DS: Yes, because there are so many things that need to be overcome. The biggest challenge is usually finding money to finance a project because a large studio has millions of dollars to spend and has lots of different people to come together. To finish an independent film you need to offer people a different type of experience since you don't usually have that type of money that a studio film would have. Finding creative, motivated individuals that can work as a team is critical to the success and completion of any independent film.
RB: How long it took you to finish the movie and where did you shoot it?
DS: It took me several years to get to this point because I stopped shooting halfway through the script. There were two things that came up -- one was the fact that I had trouble working with the main actor who was also the director, and the second reason was that I got skin cancer that had to be cut out of my body. Thankfully both got resolved nicely. After that, I finished the shoot a year or so later. I finished Space Girls and then a few years after that worked on fine-tuning the audio and color corrections because I put it back on the shelf while for a while. When I took it back off the shelf I also added some new scenes with my good friend, Sabrina Parisi. We added scenes in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles with Sabrina Parisi and the flying cat Q. I have to say it turned out to be a really cute film that I am very proud of! The added scenes really brought it together quite nicely. It is funny and campy with a bit of a zany feel to it.
RB: Which were the hardest scenes to shoot?
DS: The hardest seen to shoot was the scene with all of the girls on the planet Vanisia because it took quit a long time to film. Whenever there is a larger group of people it is always harder After a while, everyone got tired but they were troopers and hung in there!
RB: Did you and the cast have fun?
DS: The cast really had a great time! The girls in the production were great. However some of the guys had times where you would have sworn that it was that time of month for them and they would get fussy about eating and sometimes act grumpy and have girly fits and even stomp their feet. I felt like I had to be their therapist. One of the guys even started to cry. I laugh at it thinking back!
RB: Did you make friends with rest of the cast?
DS: I actually cast the characters from most of my friends that I already knew from acting on different other projects in the past that with a few exceptions. I did make friends with lots of the cast because we worked together practically every day over a period of months so you really get to know someone and appreciate them. We had about a hundred people in the combined cast and crew throughout the film.
RB: Do you have any expectations for the public’s reaction? What's the target audience?
DS: I just want them to have a fun time and laugh because it is a sci-fi comedy. It is one of those films that I am sure many people can relate to at one time or other making fun of some of our human behavior. I hope they like it! I think the target is a young crowd 18-45; however, all ages can get a kick out of it. I have found that even them more mature people (grandparents, for instance) think it's cute and funny.
RB: Are you still modeling parallel to everything else happening in your life?
DS: On occasion, but I am so busy with other things in my life that it only happens as part of public relations stuff, modeling is really not my focus now.

She has always loved saving stray animals and thankfully her mom did also. This one time, she saved the 3 squirrels that she found in a nest that was from one of the local palm trees that was cut down. She ended up feeding the little babies through a syringe with a pabulum and milk mixture. Then they released them to the wild life way station once they got big enough. She also had pet rats that would follow her around; one in particular called Ratoe was very smart and would always come to her when she called him. Because of her love for saving stray animals she now takes care of 15 strays outside her house by feeding them twice daily and getting them neutered so that they will not reproduce. And about half of them go in and out of the house as they please. She is known in Beverly Hills as the cat rescuer, and because of this sometimes people leave kittens outside her house because they know that she will take good care of them and try to find them a good home.
