Quench

A review by Isabella Da Morte

A MODERN GOTHIC TRAGEDY...

A film by Indiana native "Zack Parker". Filmed during the autumn season in the crossroads of Indiana in Zack's home town of  "Richmond".

QUENCH is a unique film unlike no other. Telling the dramatic story of Derik (played by Bo Barrett). A college student who has

Just lost his girlfriend. But not to another man, but rather, the other villain..."DEATH".
The sudden passing of his girlfriend is a haunting heart ache that will forever plague Derik's life.

Unable to cope at school with the issue of her death, Derik decides to leave and pay a visit to his best friend since grade school  "Jason" (played by Ben Schmit). The three years that have passed since Derik and Jason last spoke or seen each other, speak volumes when Derik and Jason meet up again. Jason is now part of an inner circle of friends, a family of sort, that has Derik completely baffled. Jason's appearance has drastically changed and so has his life style. This new family that Jason and his significant other "Veronica" (played my Samantha Eileen Deturk) now belong to is a far cry from normal. (at least in Derik's eyes anyway). An underground cult like family that those on the outside would never understand or accept.
Derik tries to fit the pieces of the mysterious puzzle of Jason's life together. Trying to make sense of Jason's new life style and new circle of friends. All the while keeping the vivid painful memory of his girlfriend's recent death playing over and over in his mind.

Will Derik ultimately join his former best friend Jason and become a member of Jason's "Family" that he's been trying so desperately to figure out?

Will he get over the loss of his girlfriend and move on with his life?

Will he meet someone new?
Could Derik ever find it in himself to love again?

What does fate and life have in store for Derik and his future?

Watch this unique work of art by Zack Parker and find the answers to those questions. The unusual story, circumstances and chain of events that unravel may surprise you.

This film is a work of art that incorporates many different elements of life and brings them to life on screen. With many unique, unusual, outstanding qualities that will leave you in a state of shock, but at the same time touched and compelled and wanting to see more.

QUENCH is:

UNIQUE- As are all of Zack Parker's films. An excellent writer and director, Zack tells a story in ways no one else does. With a unique sense of style that rises above. He brings you the very best his imagination has to offer and does an outstanding job!

COMPELLING- Absolutely! Quench takes you on a dramatic, emotional journey, and will have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation throughout the entire duration of the film. Through the tragic tale you will constantly find yourself drawn in and sympathetic to each character.

ODD- Yes, odd, but not in a bad sense. Odd in the sense that it doesn't necessarily fit one particular genre of film, but rather many genre's. Capturing elements and moods of drama, suspense, horror. Dealing with real life issues that could happen to virtually any one. Addressing issues of life and death, and how one affects the other. Also encompassing elements of friendships, trust, , odd family circles and underground societies that exist right  under our noses. Some unknowingly and some we are aware of, but choose to ignore and pretend they do not exist.

DARK- QUENCH is indeed a very dark, very interesting, well told story with a dark mood. A deeply emotional tragedy that explores the dark corners of one's psyche'.
Dark, gothic, and appealing to those who are curious to step in to another realm of life and film making. Exploring the dark mysteries in one's life. With dark & gothic wardrobes that are very stylish and creative. Visual tones and effects that are warm, inviting, yet gothic, dark and portraying various moods and emotions. Well done. Superb!

INTRIGUING- No doubt! A piece that is well worth seeing. A story of a typical guy in a not so typical situation, coping with feelings, and issues that are to the extreme both in an emotional stand point, a mental stand point and a physical one.

Zack Parker is not afraid to step out of the conforming norm of society in his film mkaing. Pushing the envelope of film making just a step further. Allowing his audience to step inside  a world that is not what most members of society would view as being normal.

Too many times we are often held back from expressing ourselves, pursueing dreams, and being our selves, due to the conformity of society. We are far too often judged by others for all the wrong reasons. People fear what they do not know, do not understand, or do not percieve as normal.  Sadly that is an issue in many aspects of not just the film world, but in the world in general.

Zack Parker dares to be different, follows his dreams and ambitions, taking a chance and creating a one of a kind masterpiece, that not only shows his diverse style of film making, but also shows his outstanding talent and creativity. A man with the dedication , drive and passion to continually bring interesting , original, brilliant works of art to the screen. giving you the viewer a peek inside his endless imagination.
Stepping out of the normal realm (in my opinion) shows others that it is ok to do things a little differently, it's ok to make films and tell a story the way you invision it to be. Use your imagination, your own sense of style. Use the resources you have to do so in a positive way. Follow your dreams. don't put restrictions on those dreams because you are worried about what other's think.

QUENCH may do the following
1. Compell
2. Intrigue
3. enlighten
4. unsettle
5. shock
6. make you want to see more

One thing is for sure...
QUENCH will take you on a path you've never been on before. It WILL blow your mind.

A film i highly recommend. By a Director that has inspired my husband and i since the day we met him.

My husband and I had the privelege of getting to be part of Quench. Although we had very small parts in the film, the experience of working with Zack and being part of such a fanatstic project, was one that we will always remember, and are both honored, proud and extremely grateful to have been part of.

Special thanks to Zack for an awesome film experience and awesome finsished product!
