Fucking Comics: The Teen Titans VS The X-Men - An Introduction. Aka Battle of the Network Comics... Or something. Fuck, I hate coming up with titles.Okay, so this edition of Fucking Comics is taking a different turn, today we'll be comparing the early works of the "Big Two" of the comic book industry. DC Comics, and Marvel Comics. I'll probably run a few of these comparisons to prove my theory that DC Comics are for retards, and Marvel comics are for people who are intelligent. What I won't have to prove is that, reading either DC or Marvel comics won't help you with the ladies any. Unless you read your comics in the bar. Then they'll talk to you for about as long as it takes to establish that you're reading comics in a bar, and maybe milk you for a free drink before continuing to ignore your existence. Today, we're going to look at the popular "teen" hero groups that both camps were pumping out around the same time. For DC we'll be looking at the first appearance of the Teen Titans (In The Brave and the Bold #54 originally published June/July 1964) and for Marvel, we'll be looking at the first appearance of the ever popular X-Men (In X-Men #1 originally published in September 1963) We'll begin this review with DC's characters, since DC comics technically was around longer (It's early incarnation starting up in 1935, whereas Marvels incarnation began in 1939) So, take it away DC Comics, let's see what you've got for us! |
