The Flash #339 - B.S. Stands for Big Sir.

This issue beings where, I'm assuming, last issue ended off where four of Flash's old foes, Captain Boomerang, Captain Cold, Weather Wizard, Mirror Master, and the Jester have just put their captive -- a 300 lb mental patient -- in a giant futuristic suit of armor (equipped with it's very own ball and chain) as part of a plot against the Flash.

The first thing I'm compelled to think about (other than the fact that the Flash has a shitty rogue gallery with lame powers.) is what sort of moron you have to be to put a 300 lb mental patient in a suit of futuristic armor?

Look, I don't care if he's got the literal mind of a child and you think you can easily sway him, the fact that your putting a guy who can probably snap you in two like a dry twig who has the temperament of a child is never, ever, by any stretch of the imagination, a very good idea. I don't care how well you thought it out, you're fucking nuts if you think you can control that.

You couldn't pay me to put my hands in a pair of boots the Flash wore all day. Can you imagine how much sweat is in those boots from all the running he does?

Anyway, as part of their plan, they have the Jester out putting foot prints on the ground with a pair of boots they stole from the Flash museum. Yes, there is an entire museum devoted to the Flash, and apparently it has lousy enough security that a doofus named the Jester can waltz right in and steal a pair of boots from inside (Although, when you stop and consider, if there is a museum there probably is a gift shop where they probably sell replicas of the Flash's boots, so, why are you going to go in and steal a pair that are on display?)

Apparently it's part of the plan...

I'd like to point out at this point of the story the character wasn't yet named Big Sir (unless you count the cover), so in all impressions, one would have to wonder if the characters name was Bullshit.

Their subject, wakes up with no memory of who he is (sounds like the start of an Image comic doesn't it?) and sees that all of Flash's villains are pretending to be knocked out around the foot prints.

We then cut to the home of Flash's parents who are being questioned by police regarding the Flash murdering Reverse-Flash at Barry Allan's wedding. Which has nothing really to do with this issue that I'm reviewing, so I'm going to skip the rest of these parts, even though I'm sure it was a fun time.

So we cut to Flash himself who is at the Breedmore Mental Hospital where he's checking up on his old foe the Pied Piper (again with the lame villains! Oi!), where a doctor informs the Flash that he's been on the verge of a total breakdown since before he met the Flash. Putting the Flashter at ease with the idea that he might be responsible for his old foe going over

The funny thing about this panel is that the artist went to the trouble of drawing toenails on this guy, only to have some dip shit colorist color his feet blue like his costume.

the edge.

As the Flash is leaving, he asks what the hole in the wall is from, the doctor explains, as a matter of fact, that the wall made brittle from absolute zero cold and shattered, and that whoever was responsible stole their escaped patient.

I think it's funny that the doctor didn't mention it until after the Flash pointed it out. Okay, so the biggest hero in your city shows up to your mental hospital the day after some crooks showed up, busted open a wall and stole one of your patients, you neglect to tell them until after they notice the damage has been done?

Wow.

Anyway, the doctor happens to have a picture of the missing patient on his clip board (again, how could you forget to mention that when you got the missing guy's picture on the front of your clip board?) so he shows it to the Flash. The patient, is a 307 lb guy who has the unfortunate name of Dufus P. Ratchet a 22 year old guy who has the mental capacity of an 8 year old, and due to a malfunctioning Pituitary Gland he's a 307 lb power house. If that isn't enough for you, the guy totally goes ape shit when you harm or kill one of his "little friends", who usually happen to be small rodents he takes up as pets.

Considering the odds, that's one unlucky fucking mouse.

Of course the doc shows it to Flash "should you happen to run across him out there...", yeah thanks for the tip, you think maybe next time you could be a little faster in telling me about it? Shit head.

Speaking of 307 lb mental patients, just what the heck is going on with said Dufus? (You realize this is probably the first and only time I'm going to be able to the the word "Dufus" as a proper noun in any of my reviews? I'm going to make the most of it God damn it!)

Well since we were off in exposition city, he's been listening to Flash's rather pitiful rogues gallery tell all manner of stories and believing every word that's being said.

The bad guys have taken to calling him Big Sir, or (and I'm not kidding) B.S. for short. So let me get this straight, they name the guy Big Sir, and give him a nickname B.S. for short, and it wasn't done on purpose? I mean, come on, the writer must have been fully aware that B.S. stands for Bullshit. Right? I refuse to believe it was a honest mistake. You don't write something this bad, and call your lame ass villain of the week B.S. for short without knowing what it means.

The bad guys Dufus that he was helping them fight the flash, and during the fight he tried to crush the Flash who used a backswords kick to knock B.S. out and made him suffer amnesia. In their explanation they tell Dufus that after knocking them all

Yes, the Flash has gone from being champion of justice to mouse smasher.

out, the Flash must have noticed something of greater importance and ran away, and in doing so trampled on a "poor little thing."

Upon mentioning a "poor little thing", B.S. goes on a rampage to check and see what it is, he eventually sees what the bad guys were talking about, a little mouse that had been stomped to death in one of "Flash's" foot steps.

This of course angers Dufus, and after burying the mouse in the footstep that it expired on (which apparently according to one of the villains watching is sick) Dufus is convinced by Captain Boomerang that he should go after Flash and get revenge for the death of his "little friend."

The Villains then congratulate themselves, for apparently accomplishing the one thing they think will lead to the destruction of the Flash.
